Privacy policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026 · Applies to the hindsight website and the hindsight browser extension.

The short version: hindsight collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no cookies, no tracking, no servers. Your camera feed never leaves your device.

Your camera

• hindsight asks for camera access only when you start the mirror, and only to show your own feed back to you.
• Video frames are held in memory for at most five seconds to produce the delayed view, then immediately discarded.
• Nothing is recorded, saved to disk, or transmitted anywhere. There is no capability in the code to do so.

Network

• The browser extension requests no network permission and makes no network requests of its own. You can verify this in your browser's network inspector.
• The website is a static page; it loads its fonts from Google Fonts and makes no other requests. It has no analytics.

Data we store

• Your preferences (delay length, mirror on/off, overlay position) are stored locally in your browser (localStorage on the site, extension storage in the extension). They never leave your browser, other than Chrome's own optional settings sync that you control.

Third parties

There are none. hindsight embeds no third-party scripts, SDKs, ads, or analytics of any kind.
